Preparing for delivery and feeding your infant, during pregnancy, is the best thing you can do to prepare yourself for this next journey in life! Ideal timing is around 32-36 weeks, but any time is better than no time!
Returning to work doesn't have to mean the end of your breastfeeding journey. Our consultants can help you create a plan to continue breastfeeding while working.
Tongue-tie can cause breastfeeding difficulties for both mother and baby. We can assess your baby for tongue-tie and provide support and recommendations.
If you're concerned about the safety of breastfeeding while taking medication, our consultants can provide guidance and support to help you make an informed decision.
Our lactation consultants provide support to new moms to help them navigate the challenges of breastfeeding and caring for a new baby.
Offer educational opportunities to help you determine what the best feeding mode is for you and your family when your baby is born. Whether it is breastfeeding, pumping and bottle feeding, formula feeding or a combination, we are here to support you and help you learn the skills to be successful!
Let us help you create a birth plan that incorporates skin-to-skin, minimal interventions and separations to help promote a strong and robust start to your feeding journey as a new parent!
Our job isn’t done once delivery is over. Feeding demands change greatly throughout this journey. I will come to you to ensure that your time after the hospital is going in the right direction by checking the infant's latch, battling engorgement, sore nipples, supporting pumping and ensuring pump flanges are correct and help you transition to a bottle and return to work.
Private consult tailored specifically to you. During the consultation, we will review: preparing for your feeding choice, supplies/items needed for during your hospital stay and for at home, how to latch, returning to work or planning for a separation from the baby, diet and nutrition and some common fears or misconceptions around breastfeeding. If this isn't your first time, we will review past experiences or difficulties and things you'd want to be different, if any. We will also address any concerns you may have. This time can be overwhelming and I want to help simplify this time to allow you to be successful and enjoy feeding your infant!
During this visit, we will help you feel more confident with feeding your infant and work through your worries, fears, concerns and do a feeding (or two or three) together. During the feedings we will do a thorough feeding assessment of both you and the infant. We will develop a care plan catered to your specific situation. This visit is a lot of teaching and information. We will continue to stay in contact for 2 weeks to ensure that you feel 100% confident with feeding your infant. I encourage you to keep in close contact with me during this time!
Plan for 1.5-2+ hours for this visit. Please have supplies or accessories handy, including your breast pump handy. A report of our visit together will be shared with any of your other health care professionals (OBGYN, Pediatrician, Chiropractor, ENT, Dentist, Craniosacral therapist, massage therapist, etc.), if you'd like.
With this consultation, we will work on a plan to help support and maintain your milk supply when returning to work. We discuss pumping, bottle feeding the infant, ensuring a great milk supply and balancing breastfeeding and bottle feeding. Milk storage guidelines are reviewed and how to help daycare or infant care providers to feel comfortable with handling your milk properly. Any pumping tips of mine, I will also share!
